Apple cake is one of the preferred homemade cakes in many countries including the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and more. As a result, you’ll find lots of easy apple cake recipes in all these countries.
Everyone will define an apple cake with different words, so let’s see what is writing Wikipedia about this subject:
Apple cake is a popular dessert produced with the main ingredient of apples. Such a cake is made through the process of slicing this sweet fruit to add fragrance to a plain cake base. Traditional apple cakes go a step further by including various spices such as nutmeg or cinnamon, which give a unique flavor. Upon the addition of spices, the batter can also be accompanied by crushed nuts, the most popular being walnuts and almonds.

Everyone has a collection of apple cake recipes that uses frequently. I am no exception to this rule either because I really like homemade apple cakes, and therefore I often bake them.
Above are listed some of my preferred homemade apple cakes. I bake pretty often all of them and I’ll share some tips to make them with the best results if you think they fit your personal taste and interests.
Most of the recipes listed on the upper part of the page are old fashioned and classic apple cakes. I’ve enjoyed most of them in childhood, they being frequently baked by both my grandma and mom.
However, among these are modern apple cake recipes such as those prepared with puff pastry. In the list are two such recipes and both are apple turnovers: one is made just with fresh apples and tastes like an apple strudel but is baked easier and faster than a classic strudel, the other cake is filled with a combination of apple and apricot jam. Both are very tasty and simple, so I call them easy apple strudel.
Next, you’ll find an old-fashioned apple cake recipe with a double crust that was always present throughout the fall and winter in our house. Is made with grated fresh apples and a frail dough based on pork lard or butter. Plus, the cake is flavored with cinnamon, so you’ll enjoy a perfect blend of tastes.
Of course, the apple strudel could not be missing from the list with my easy apple cake recipes. It has Austrian origins and became very popular in Hungary during the Habsburg Empire, being today one of the favorite homemade cakes of the Hungarians. The difference between the two recipes is that the Hungarian one contains a significantly higher amount of sugar because the Hungarians like very sweet cakes.
Another very interesting apple cake recipe that I bring in your attention is the one with fresh apples and sponge cake. It’s basically a combination of apple tart and Victoria sponge cake. Not only that this upside-down apple cake is very tasty but its taste is simply delicious, so you can serve it at any holiday or birthday.
Finally, in my list with the easy apple cake recipes are two very similar apple pies. One is the classic Tatin tart or the French tart with caramelized apples. The other is an apple tart that includes walnuts, in addition to the classic ingredients, so it has a richer and more refined taste for those who like walnuts.
I recommend you to try all these easy apple cake recipes both because they are very tasty but also because they are simple and can be prepared by anyone, including those without much experience of baking homemade cakes. In addition, they require common ingredients, easy to find and with a familiar taste to most of you.
For now, here are the easy apple cake recipes I’ve published. Of course, my recipe list is much longer and I will publish other homemade apple cake recipes in the future, so come back to the website for the latest news or subscribe to notifications or the YouTube channel.
