Notes

Cooking Tips for the Best Results:

  1. Choose fresh mackerel fillets: Fresh mackerel fillets have a delicate and mild flavor that pairs well with the tangy tomato sauce. Always choose the freshest mackerel fillets possible to ensure the best flavor and texture.
  2. Marinate the mackerel fillets in advance: Marinating the mackerel fillets in a mixture of herbs and spices before cooking will infuse them with extra flavor and tenderness.
  3. Use ripe and juicy tomatoes: The quality of the tomatoes used in the tomato sauce can significantly affect the taste of the dish. If you make the sauce at home, choose ripe and juicy tomatoes to make the sauce as flavorful as possible.
  4. Choose the right baking dish: To ensure that the mackerel fillets cook evenly and stay moist, choose a baking dish that is just the right size. Avoid using a dish that is too large, as this can cause the tomato sauce to evaporate too quickly and the fish to dry out. A dish that is too small, on the other hand, can lead to overcrowding and uneven cooking.
  5. Monitor the baking time: Be sure to keep an eye on the mackerel fillets as they bake in the oven to ensure they do not overcook. Overcooked mackerel can become dry and lose its delicate flavor and texture.
