➡️ Cooking tips for the beef stew recipe with plum wine sauce 🔎

Beef stew is one of the most preferred dishes in many parts of the world including the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia. People love eating beef because it’s very nourishing and is considered healthier than other red meats.

Being so popular, there are a lot of beef recipes and a good part of them are stews. The stew is one of the first ways to cook beef because it is a very easy cooking method. Of course, there are more complicated beef stew recipes, but their preparation is worth the effort because any beef stew is very tasty.

On this page, I share an extremely fragrant beef stew recipe, even if the preparation is also simple. The richness of flavors is so great that this dish is suitable for any dinner or even a royal meal.

The recipe includes some very strong spices, red wine, and prunes that, after merging their flavors, create a magnificent dish that you will never forget!

As I said, cooking is easy and does not require your presence in the kitchen for too long because the stew is cooked over low temperature and should be mixed only from time to time.

As for advice, I recommend two things mainly. The first is to cut the meat into medium-large pieces to avoid drying them during frying.

The second is to fry the pieces of meat over medium heat to allow enough time for the meat to partially tenderize during this cooking phase.

Did You Know? Health Benefits

A stew is a combination of solid food ingredients that have been cooked in liquid and served in the resultant gravy. Ingredients in a stew can include any combination of vegetables and may include meat, especially tougher meats suitable for slow-cooking, such as beef, poultry, sausages, and seafood. While water can be used as the stew-cooking liquid, the stock is also common. A small amount of red wine is sometimes added for flavor. Seasoning and flavorings may also be added. Stews are typically cooked at a relatively low temperature (simmered, not boiled), allowing flavors to mingle.

Stewing is suitable for the least tender cuts of meat that become tender and juicy with the slow moist heat method. This makes it popular in low-cost cooking. Cuts having a certain amount of marbling and gelatinous connective tissue give moist, juicy stews, while lean meat may easily become dry.

Stews are thickened by reduction or with flour, either by coating pieces of meat with flour before searing or by using a roux or beurre manié, a dough consisting of equal parts of fat and flour. Thickeners like cornstarch, potato starch, or arrowroot may also be used.

Stews are similar to soups, and in some cases, there may not be a clear distinction between the two. Generally, stews have less liquid than soups, are much thicker, and require longer cooking over low heat. While soups are almost always served in a bowl, stews may be thick enough to be served on a plate with the gravy as a sauce over the solid ingredients.
