Leftover Bolognese Pizza

Leftover Bolognese Pizza is a creative way to use up the remaining Bolognese sauce from a previous meal. This pizza is a perfect solution for those who don't want to let the Bolognese sauce go to waste, and for those who love the taste of pizza. The dish is quick and easy to prepare, making it perfect for a weeknight dinner or a weekend lunch.
The Bolognese sauce provides the pizza with a rich and savory flavor that is enhanced by the melted cheese. The addition of basil leaves adds a freshness and aroma to the dish, which balances out the richness of the sauce and cheese. The combination of the Bolognese sauce, cheese, and basil creates a mouth-watering pizza that is perfect for any occasion.
To make the pizza, you can use any type of pizza dough you prefer, whether store-bought or homemade. The Bolognese sauce should be slightly reheated before being spread onto the dough. The grated cheese can be any type of cheese that melts well, such as parmesan, mozzarella, or provolone. Some basil leaves should also be added after the pizza is cooked, to maintain their freshness and aroma.

  • spread grated cheese over the sauce into a layer
  • place the tray into the preheated oven at 250 C/450 F and bake the pizza until golden on top (10-15 minutes, depending on your oven type)
  • remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle over more fresh aromatic plants (optional)
  • wait about 5 minutes to cool the pizza
  • slice the pizza up as desired and serve it immediately

Notes

Cooking Tips:
  • Make sure to preheat your oven to the correct temperature before baking the pizza. A hot oven is essential to ensuring that the pizza cooks evenly and has a crispy crust.
  • If you are using a homemade pizza dough, make sure to roll it out evenly to avoid any thick or thin spots on the pizza.
  • When reheating the Bolognese sauce, make sure to stir it occasionally to prevent it from burning or sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  • Be careful not to overdo it on the cheese. While cheese is an essential component of any pizza, too much cheese can overwhelm the other flavors in the dish.
  • After baking the pizza, allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing it. This will allow the cheese to set and make it easier to cut without it sliding off the pizza.

Final Notes For The Homemade Bolognese Pizza Recipe

➡️ Making pizza at home is today a pretty common habit. More and more people start cooking pizza at home because homemade pizza is much more affordable than pizza from a pizza restaurant. Aside from this, probably the main reason why homemade pizza becomes more and more popular is that everyone can customize the pizza according to their own taste and can add any topping in any combination.

➡️ As a result, nowadays are available on the internet lots of pizza recipes. There are both traditional Italian pizza recipes and easy pizza recipes that don’t require fancy ingredients but rather are based on the common things found in the fridge.

➡️ The homemade pizza recipe shared on this page is both traditional and modern. It’s a traditional pizza recipe because Bolognese sauce was made for the first time in Italy. At the same time, it’s also an easy homemade pizza recipe because it uses a simple Bolognese sauce instead of the very time-consuming ragu sauce used for the authentic version.

➡️ This easy homemade pizza recipe is really simple to make and, as already mentioned, doesn’t require special ingredients for toppings. You can make the pizza both with pizza crust bought from the store or prepared at home. If you don’t know to make a pizza base, you can find on this website two pizza crust recipes, one leavened with yeast, and the other one without yeast.

➡️ Being very simple, this easy homemade Bolognese pizza recipe doesn’t pose any difficulty even if you’re making pizza at home for the first time. This is especially valid if you buy both the pizza base and Bolognese sauce from the store. However, making pizza dough at home is very easy, just like making my modern version of the traditional Bolognese sauce.

➡️ I like to enjoy any pizza next to a very cold beer, but, of course, you could replace it with a glass of red wine, sparkling water, a soft drink, or any other drink do you like!

➡️ Some will wonder why to make pizza at home if there are so many places to order it online. My answer is that no commercial pizza compares to a homemade one, because at home you can personalize it according to your taste and add real flavors and quality ingredients, things that you don’t really find in the ordered ones. In addition, commercial pizza has become very expensive in many big cities… And let’s not forget the pleasure of creating a delicacy with your own hands, which is definitely priceless!
