Chicken Parmesan

My Healthy Chicken Parmesan Recipe

Healthy chicken parmigiana is one of the tastiest chicken parmesan recipes you have ever cooked!

➡️ Many of you have heard of chicken parmesan or chicken parm, but not chicken parmigiana, though the same thing. Why? Because Americans tend to simplify and Americanize things, so it seems that the Italian food Pollo alla parmigiana has turned into Parmesan chicken. By the way, parmigiana means “with Parmesan” in Italian and Parmesan is an Italian cow cheese and the English and American translation of the Italian word Parmigiano-Reggiano.

➡️ Parmesan chicken is extremely popular nowadays and the recipe is cooked in various variants, both at home and in restaurants. Traditionally, chicken parmesan is made by preparing boneless chicken breast like a schnitzel, ie the meat is coated with flour, egg, and breadcrumbs, then fried in hot oil in the pan. Finally, it’s added tomato sauce and mozzarella or parmesan over the fried chicken breast (see details below.)

➡️ Therefore, due to the fact that the chicken breast is fried in oil, many people think that this recipe is not very healthy due to both the oil and the frying. Well, cooking a healthy chicken parmesan recipe is an achievable goal and even an easy task.

➡️ So, when you looking for a healthier and more nutritious version of the classic Italian dish, try the Healthy Chicken Parmesan Recipe (see below) that’s packed with flavors and wholesome ingredients. Instead of deep-frying the chicken and adding a heavy layer of cheese and breadcrumbs, this recipe uses simple and healthier ingredients to create a lighter version of this classic dish.

➡️ Instead of using heavy amounts of cheese and breadcrumbs, this recipe uses simple and wholesome ingredients that are packed with nutrients. The tomato sauce is made from crushed tomatoes, garlic, and herbs, which adds a burst of fresh and tangy flavors to the dish. The finishing touch is a sprinkle of fresh mozzarella cheese, which melts perfectly over the chicken and adds a creamy and savory flavor.

➡️ This dish is a great choice for those who want to enjoy the flavors of Chicken Parmesan without the guilt. It’s a perfect balance of flavor and nutrition, and it’s sure to become a new family favorite.

Servings 4 servings

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour or almond flour
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • fresh basil, chopped, for garnish

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, combine the flour, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Dip each chicken breast in the beaten egg, then coat in the almond flour mixture, making sure to cover both sides.
  • Place the chicken breasts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the coating is crispy.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the crushed tomatoes, garlic, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  • Spoon the sauce over the chicken breasts, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh chopped basil and serve hot.

Cooking Tips:
  • Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness before coating them. This will ensure that they cook evenly and stay juicy.
  • Use a non-stick baking sheet or line your baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the chicken from sticking.
  • Make sure your oven is fully preheated before baking the chicken. A hot oven ensures that the coating will get crispy and golden brown.
  • Don’t over-bake the chicken or it will become dry. Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
