➡️ Tips for cooking Italian sausage and potatoes 🔎

Do you like fresh sausages? Me too, they are included in many of my preferred food recipes. As a result, I cook sausages often, both in the pan on the stove and in a tray in the oven.

Those of you looking for learning how to cook sausages in the pan are invited to take a look at my pan-fried sausage recipe.

Before, I published a recipe for cooking Italian sausage in the oven in a very simple way (see at the bottom of the page).

On this page, I share a method of cooking Italian sausage with potatoes, this being very useful when you want to cook a tasty and filling lunch or dinner but you do not want to spend much time in the kitchen.

By the way, who doesn’t know what Italian sausage is (also called fresh sausage in some parts of the world) is invited to read more information below.

The preparation of the recipe is very simple, it does not require many ingredients and the preparation time is very short. Even cooking food in the oven does not take much time, so you can prepare lunch or dinner quickly and enjoy an extremely tasty and nourishing meal.

The flavors used to season the potatoes are common and most of us like them: dried thyme or rosemary according to everyone’s taste, garlic, salt, and pepper. If you want, you can replace garlic with red onions. You can also add fresh chili pepper slices or hot paprika if you like spicy food.

Despite its simplicity, this food is flavorful and, therefore, very tasty. You can prepare or buy your Italian sausages that include your favorite spices.

Not to forget, the time needed for cooking Italian sausages in the oven depends on their thickness. The cooking time indicated by me is for some medium-thick sausages.

Of course, if they are thicker you need more time, if they are thinner the cooking time is shorter. The basic clue is their color, when they are golden on both sides, the sausages are ready to serve!

Did You Know? Health Benefits

In North America, Italian sausage (salsiccia [salˈsittʃa] in Italian) most often refers to a style of pork sausage. The sausage is often noted for being seasoned with fennel as the primary seasoning. In Italy, however, a wide variety of sausages are made, many of which are quite different from the aforementioned product.

The most common varieties marketed as “Italian sausage” in supermarkets are hot,[1] sweet,[2][3][4][5], and mild.[6] The main difference between hot and mild is the addition of hot red pepper flakes to the spice mix of the former. The difference between mild and sweet is the addition of sweet basil in the latter.

In Australia, a variety of mild salsiccia fresca (literally meaning “fresh sausage”) seasoned primarily with fennel is sold as “Italian sausage”.
