Honey Dijon Kielbasa and Onion Skillet Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound kielbasa sausage
- 1 piece medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the kielbasa sausage and cook for 5-6 minutes, or until it is browned on all sides.
- Add the onion and garlic to the pan and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the onion is translucent.
- Pour in the beef broth, Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer the kielbasa for 20-25 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the kielbasa is fully cooked.
- Serve the kielbasa hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- If you prefer a spicier kielbasa, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes or a tablespoon of diced jalapeno peppers to the pan.
- For a smokier flavor, try using a smoked kielbasa sausage instead of a fresh one.
- If you want a thicker sauce, try mixing together a tablespoon of cornstarch and a little bit of cold water and adding it to the pan towards the end of the cooking time.
- Kielbasa can be served on its own, or as an addition to dishes like mac and cheese, sauerkraut, or potato salad.
Master the Art of Cooking Kielbasa Sausage – It’s Easier Than You Think!
➡️ As I mentioned in the beginning, cooking kielbasa sausage is a very easy process, no matter whether you’re cooking smoked kielbasa sausage or fresh kielbasa sausage. The simplest way to cook smoked kielbasa is in the oven, and this is the primary cooking method I use in winter (see how to cook smoked sausage in the oven.) Another recipe I cook often during the cold season is the sauerkraut and sausage casserole, which is simply perfect with Polish kielbasa.
