Certainly, cooking mussels at home is not for everyone … I mean, it’s recommended only for those who have tasted mussels cooked at a restaurant OR have a free spirit and are willing to taste new things without knowing if they will like them or not!
However, the process of cooking mussels is quite simple. First, you’ll want to rinse the mussels under cool water in order to remove any sand or mug traces. Then, you can add them to a pot of boiling water, making sure to stir them occasionally. After a few minutes, the mussels should be ready to serve. This is the simplest way for cooking mussels at home!
Of course, cooking mussels can be done using more elaborate recipes, most of which involve a white sauce or a tomato sauce in which mussels are added. One of my favorite mussels recipes cooked this way is Spaghetti alla Vongole, which is an Italian recipe prepared with clams. However, using mussels instead of clams leads to an equally delicious dish because they come from the same shellfish family!
