1) 500 g / 17.5 oz of sauerkraut
2) 2 tbsp of sunflower oil
3) 1 tsp of dried thyme
4) 1/2 tsp of coriander powder
5) 200 g / 7 oz of sour cream (12% fat)
6) ground black pepper to taste

How to make fried sauerkraut with sour cream from scratch? ❓

1) chop the sour cabbage and place it into a skillet
2) put the skillet to the stovetop over high temperature and add the sunflower oil
3) sprinkle thyme and coriander, then mix ingredients
4) when the sauerkraut is slightly fried add the cream, reduce temperature, season the food with black pepper to taste and wait until starts to boil again (1-2 minutes)
5) stop the fire, place the lid to the skillet and wait for about 5 minutes before serving (recommended)

The delicious sour cabbage is often used in my kitchen from autumn until late spring. I use it to prepare different food recipes of all kinds – soup, food, side dish, and even salad.

Certainly, each of you has a recipe for sour cabbage that you often prefer and cook. I really like all the recipes that contain this ingredient, so it would be hard for me to choose a favorite recipe!

Of the many recipes with sour cabbage, on this page, I present a very simple and quick one – fried cabbage with cream. It’s really easy to cook and you only need about 15 minutes until you’re ready to serve it!

In my recipe, apart from thyme, I use coriander to add more flavor to the food, but you can use other seasonings instead, such as cumin or even ginger.

This pan-roasted sour cabbage dish can be served as a main dish without any other ingredients, or it can be used as a side dish along with various roast types.

For example, I really like to serve fried sausages, either fresh or smoked, next to this dish.

If you have a smoked ham shank on hand, I suggest you cook a roast in the oven and then serve it next to the fried sauerkraut with cream. Be careful not to cram yourself excessively because this food combination is so good that you will hardly stop eating!

If smoked meat or pork knuckle is not on your list of favorite foods, another suggestion is to prepare sour cabbage with cream and serve with roast pork cooked on the stovetop. This dish is a real feast as well!

If you do not want to eat meat, you can just boil some potatoes and serve them with the fried pickled cabbage. You will definitely like this combination!
