Cooking BBQ Fish at Home
Some of the most delicious grilled fish recipes you’ve ever cooked!
➡️ The grilling season is in full swing, so I make the most of the beautiful weather and light the coals whenever I crave delicious and juicy food just on the grill you can prepare. Chicken, beef, and pork are the favorite dishes of many for grilling, but why not fish? It is simply delicious grilled whether we are talking about fish fillets or whole fish.
➡️ Grilled fish or BBQ fish includes any type of fish cooked on the barbecue, no matter whether you’re using coals or gas as a heat source. Lots of people like grilling salmon fillets, while others enjoy grilled swordfish fillets, grilled halibut fillets, grilled tuna steaks, grilled cod fillets, grilled sea bass fillets, and so on. There are also people, just like me, who like freshwater fish on the grill, so they throw whole fish on the coal like trout.
➡️ In addition to grilling fillets or whole fish, there is another cooking method for fish on the grill, namely in aluminum foil. More and more people are cooking grilled salmon in foil today, for example. I like any white fish fillet grilled in foil in combination with various vegetables and especially onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers. You only have to try just once this cooking method to convince yourself how delicious the fish is and then you will often prepare it this way!
Cooking Grilled Fish Is A Breeze!
➡️ Grilled fish can be cooked also on skewers, after marinating, and this is the main staple in many cuisines. It can be grilled as steaks or whole fish, sometimes even both. The fish can be fast-grilled or slow-grilled, with or without any oil or butter, depending on the size and fish type. Obviously, the larger the fillet or fish, the longer the frying time. More fatty fish does not need a marinade with oil or butter, while fish with drier meat must be well marinated to be really juicy and tasty.
➡️ When it comes to marinade for grilled fish, this technique allows you to add flavor to your food even if you don’t have a lot of time. Among the ingredients I often use to marinate grilled fish, onions or garlic are indispensable, as well as lemon juice and herbs such as dill, parsley, coriander, or even rosemary. Other Ingredients I like combined with fish are sun-ripened tomatoes and bell peppers, and sometimes hot peppers when preparing spicy food.
➡️ Grilling is one of the best ways to cook fish because it is quick and easy, so it’s great for any occasion and especially for a grill party. This fast cooking process changes the texture and taste of the fish, by adding char flavor to the food. Because even the thick fish fillets are ready quickly by grilling, you can easily cook a lot of dishes for a crowd without being overwhelmed. Additionally, it’s hard to find good fish in the city, and often are too expensive for a weeknight dinner. So, make grilled fish as many times as you can at home and cook it your way!

Below is a culinary article that I found interesting about cooking BBQ fish.
“I LIKE CHALLENGES,” said chef Melissa Rodriguez. At her restaurant Mel’s, which opened in Manhattan in March, she had a choice: Cook over gas or live fire. “I chose fire because I’d never done it and thought it would be fun to learn,” she said, gamely.
She’s risen to the challenge and developed her own style in the process. “If something tastes better grilled, it tends to work best when less is done to it,” she said. Simple though it may be, Ms. Rodriguez’s final Slow Food Fast recipe delivers the real depth of flavor, plus a few quiet flourishes. “We didn’t just say let’s do a whole grilled branzino,” the chef said. “We tested a lot of fish.”[…]
