PRO Tips for The Hungarian Cabbage Pasta Recipe
➡️ Káposztás Tészta or cabbage pasta is one of the pasta dishes that Hungarian love most. If you thought Hungarians like meat, it’s true, but that doesn’t mean they don’t like pasta as much! Hungarian recipes are very variate and include any type of ingredients you could think about.
➡️ Hungarian cabbage noodles are cooked not only in Hungary but also in many other countries where Hungarians live. The dish is often cooked in late summer and autumn when fresh white cabbage is available in abundance.
➡️ In the past, pasta was prepared at home, but now most people use commercially available assortments because it takes a long time to prepare homemade pasta. Usually, the recipe is made with sweet cabbage, but sometimes, in the cold season, it is replaced with sauerkraut.
➡️ In addition to sauerkraut, some people like to add caramelized onions to Hungarian cabbage noodles. Grandma prepared the recipe without this addition, so I got used to this variant as well. If you want, you can also add fried onions, to the ingredients I have indicated you need about 500 g/17 oz of yellow onions which you have to wedge and fry separately in oil, similar to frying cabbage.
➡️ Hungarian cabbage noodles are very easy to cook, so you don’t need any previous experience to make the dish. Despite their simplicity, Hungarian cabbage noodles are very tasty and nutritious. In addition to being tasty, cabbage brings many health benefits to your body.
Drinking wine at home!
What goes better with a delicious meal than quality wine? Nothing, both from my point of view and from the ancient Greeks, who said about wine that it’s the nectar of the gods! Can we contradict them?
