How to Make a French Pancake Stack

Pancake Stack with Strawberry and Nutella

ℹ️ As a home chef, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as creating a beautiful and delicious stack of pancakes. In this recipe, I’ll guide you through the steps to make a mouthwatering Pancake Stack topped with luscious strawberries, rich Nutella, and a sprinkle of chopped hazelnuts or walnuts. Get ready to indulge in a delightful breakfast or brunch treat that’s sure to impress your loved ones!

ℹ️ Ingredients:

For the Crepes (makes about 8-10 crepes):

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, cooled slightly

For the Filling and Topping:

  • 2 jars (700g) Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 2 pints fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup hazelnuts or walnuts, roughly chopped

ℹ️ Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Create a well in the center and add the eggs. Whisk vigorously until smooth, then gradually incorporate the milk, whisking constantly until a thin, pourable batter forms.
  3. Stir in the melted butter until just combined.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease the pan with cooking spray or a thin layer of butter.
  5. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the pan, swirling the pan to evenly coat the bottom.
  6. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  7. Transfer the cooked crepe to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter, lightly greasing the pan between each crepe.
  8. Prepare the First Layer: Spread a thin layer of Nutella over a cooled crepe. Top it generously with sliced strawberries.
  9. Create Subsequent Layers: Carefully place 3-4 additional crepes on top of the strawberry layer (depending on the thickness of your crepes). Spread another thin layer of Nutella over the crepe layer, followed by another generous layer of sliced strawberries.
  10. Repeat the layering process until you reach the desired height, ensuring the final layer is a crepe.
  11. Warm up the remaining Nutella (optional) in the microwave for a few seconds to make it easier to spread.
  12. Spread a thin layer of warmed Nutella over the top crepe layer.
  13. Arrange halved strawberries decoratively on top of the Nutella.
  14. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the entire stack.
  15. Slice the crepe stack into wedges and serve immediately. Enjoy!
