How to Cook Stuffed Chicken Breast with Ham and Mozzarella from Scratch

➡️ You’ve just got a craving for something delicious and satisfying, but you want to keep things healthy too? When that craving hits, you should cook the only recipe that can satisfy both cravings: ham and cheese stuffed chicken breast with tomato sauce! It is somewhat similar to the Caprese chicken recipe, which is another masterpiece of Italian gastronomy!

➡️ Mozzarella stuffed chicken breasts with tomato sauce is a deliciously easy recipe that only takes about 30-40 minutes to cook. And it’s so tasty that you’ll want to make it over and over again!

➡️ I usually serve it with pasta because it fits perfectly with tomato sauce but also with creamy mozzarella and fried chicken breast. Nevertheless, other side dishes can be used such as boiled potatoes and boiled rice. Below are listed the needed ingredients and the cooking methods.

What ingredients do you need to cook ham and mozzarella stuffed chicken breast? (recipe for 4 servings)

Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast Fillet

1) 500-600 g/20-22 oz (4 skinless boneless chicken breast halves)
2) 200 g/7 oz of mozzarella (4/8 slices, depending on their size)
3) 200 g/7 oz of Parma ham (4 slices)
4) 100 ml/3.5 fl oz of olive oil
5) 50 g/2 oz of butter
6} 100 ml/3.5 fl oz of white wine
7) 200 ml/7 fl oz of chicken stock
8) 200 g/7 oz of tomato paste
9) 100 g/3.5 oz of onions, finely chopped
10) 2-3 cloves of garlic or to taste, finely chopped or minced
11) 1 tsp of dried oregano
12) 1 tsp of dried thyme
13) 1 tbsp of sugar or as needed
14) some salt and ground black pepper to taste
15) a few fresh thyme sprigs for garnishing (optional)

➡️ Stuffed chicken breast is, as the name implies, a dish with chicken breast, usually boneless and skinless, which is stuffed with various ingredients and then baked in the oven. The most commonly used fillings are various cheese varieties like mozzarella and parmesan, mushrooms, sauteed vegetables, smoked ham, and so on. Many stuffed chicken breast recipes also include a sauce in which the dish is served.

How to Make Stuffed Chicken Breast with Ham and Mozzarella Step by Step

Ham and Mozzarella Stuffed Chicken Breast with Tomato Sauce

➡️ Eager to know how to cook ham and mozzarella stuffed chicken breast? The recipe is very tasty and easy to cook, so I wholeheartedly recommend it! Below are listed the steps required to cook the ham and cheese stuffed chicken breast recipe.

Total Time: 40 minutes

1) Cut the chicken breast fillets for stuffing

Cut the chicken breast fillet lengthwise and be careful not to pierce it on the other side or cut it completely at the ends.

2) Stuff the chicken breast fillets

Layer each chicken breast half with a quarter of mozzarella and Parma ham, then close and seal them with toothpicks.

3) Fry the chicken breast fillets

Pour half of the olive oil into a frying pan, add the butter, wait to melt, then place the stuffed chicken breast inside and fry them evenly on both sides until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes for each side).

4) Set the fried chicken breast aside

Take the fried chicken breast out of the pan, place them on a plate, and cover them with foil to remain warm and juicy.

5) Fry the onions and garlic

Pour the rest of the oil into the pan, add the chopped onions and garlic and fry them until glassy (about 3-5 minutes).

6) Deglaze the pan

Pour the wine into the pan, stir and scrape up the brown bits from the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon, then continue simmering for about 2 minutes.

7) Start cooking the tomato sauce

Add tomato paste to the pan, then pour the chicken stock and a bit more lukewarm water if needed because the paste is too thick, then stir and bring the ingredients to a boil.

8) Season and boil tomato sauce

Reduce temperature to low, season the sauce with salt, ground black pepper, dried oregano, and dried thyme, then continue simmering until the sauce is low and pretty and has a slightly creamy consistency (about 10 minutes). Right before it’s ready, add the sugar and stir well to combine the ingredients thoroughly.

9) Place the stuffed chicken breast into the sauce

Place the stuffed chicken breast halves into the tomato sauce and continue simmering ingredients until the meat is heated through and the sauce is low and has a viscous consistency (about 5 minutes).

10) Serve the stuffed chicken breast with tomato sauce

Optionally, sprinkle over a few fresh thyme sprigs for added flavor and a professional look, then serve the food immediately.
